Review- Blogger Summary #1

At the start of the semester, I looked through the list of potential blogs to follow and tried to find one I could connect with. As an elementary school teacher who aspires to be an administrator one day, I chose to follow- Meredithakers.com. This is a blog written by an elementary school principal who thinks its important to build relationships and set a positive example for her staff and students. She is a Certified Google Educator and a Certified Flipgrid Educator and has led many different professional development opportunities.

Her latest blog post is titled "3 Apps to Visually Market Your School or Classroom". As I am writing my first few entries on my new blog, this post seems fitting for me to read. I am new to blogging but I know the impact positive educational stories can have on a community, so I hope to learn some best practices for sharing those positive educational moments that are happening right in my own classroom.

Meredith firsts talks about using the Canva App. This app allows you to take an image of your school logo and place it on top of any photo right on your phone. This is an easy marketing tool to use that can add your stamp on a photo so now when others read or share your photo or story, so is your logo for your school, your classroom, your Teachers Pay Teachers account or whatever you choose. Easy marketing all on your phone!

The next app Meredith shares is Legend, which is free on the Apple App store. When reading about this app I was thinking about the many times I am  scrolling through my social media accounts on my phone. Many times, pictures or instagram stories aren't eye catching and I don't bother to read the caption that accompanies it. Legend allows you to add animation to texts to share as a video or GIF. They are eye catching and cause the reader to stop and read about your school or classroom and the important info you need to share. Its a simple, free app that I have already downloaded. Im looking forward to trying it out next time I have an important reminder or date to share on our class instagram page with parents and the community.

Meredith then shares how to record and share videos using Quik. I share instagram photos and captions on my classroom page frequently but I haven't posted any videos yet. The tips from Meredith are challenging me to try it out ASAP in my classroom.
